The Mille Miglia was originally an open-road, endurance race established in 1927 by a couple of Italian Counts. It took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957. The course began in the town of Brescia to Rome and back for over 1,005 miles. Since 1977, the race has been reborn as a classic car race with participation restricted to cars produced no later than 1957 that have participated in the original race.
The Schaefer Trans team not only secured the transportation of the 300 SL Mercedes Gullwing to Milan, but our VP Felix and Aileen Flaig participated in the legendary race! Here they are in the starting line with the proud owner:
